This guide focuses on repeatable decisions. Exact charge time, power, curve, hitbox, and goalkeeper reach can change, so verify those values in the current client instead of treating an older training clip as permanent.
Shooting state map
Say the state before pressing. Many failed “inputs” are actually a mismatch between a grounded, controlled, loose, or airborne ball.
Create a lane before charging
A powerful shot into a defender is still a turnover. Receive with a scan, move the nearest defender, and protect the ball before beginning a long release. One lateral touch or short pass can create more goal probability than additional charge.
Watch the goalkeeper’s starting line. If the keeper is already covering one side, the opposite lane or a pass may be open. If the keeper waits centrally, delay just enough to read movement without giving the defender time to tackle.
Use a normal M1 shot as a real option. If every possession waits for a named Style skill, opponents can time the longer setup.
Use curve as a chosen route
The official card documents looking upward and combining A or D with M1 for curve behavior. Test which side each directional input produces in the current camera and client before using it in a match.
Curve is useful when a direct path is blocked but an outside route toward goal exists. It is not a guarantee against the goalkeeper. The starting position, camera aim, charge, and current balance all influence the result.
Practise from a fixed location. Alternate one straight shot and one curve to each side. Track whether the ball clears the defender and remains inside the target rather than only whether it looks dramatic.
Header decisions
A header requires an airborne ball and useful meeting point. Move early enough to own the space, but do not jump before the ball reaches the playable line. If an opponent has the stronger position, prepare for the second ball rather than forcing the same aerial contest.
Choose a target before contact: goal, teammate, or safe clearance. A header without a destination often becomes a free possession. Remember that the official Flow card also documents headers as a Flow-building action, but the team outcome matters more than meter gain.
Volley decisions
M1 near an airborne ball produces the documented volley behavior. The ball’s height and travel direction determine whether a clean contact is realistic. Let an awkward ball settle when pressure allows; a controlled shot may be safer than a rushed volley.
Styles such as Mastery Kaiser and NEL Isagi have named aerial or direct branches. Confirm whether the Style input replaces, supplements, or requires the universal volley state. Do not assume every airborne visual meets the trigger.
Beat the goalkeeper with information
Watch the keeper while approaching. An early forward dive can be passed around; an early side commitment exposes the other lane. Keep at least two credible outcomes until the release—shot or pass, direct or curve, immediate or delayed.
Do not aim only for maximum distance from the keeper if a defender blocks that route. The correct finish solves both layers. In 5v5, rebounds are especially dangerous because every player is near the action; follow the shot without crowding a teammate’s finish.
Add Style and Flow finishers last
Learn the Style’s ball-state labels in Storage. Base Michael Kaiser and Mastery Kaiser do not share an identical move map. NEL Isagi has direct, volley, trap, and Flow choices. A failed named move may reflect the wrong kit, ball state, target, or meter rather than the shooting system.
Open Flow & Awakening before relying on an ultimate. Activate when the ball can reach the required state inside the visible window. Keep an ordinary pass available when defenders collapse on the Flow threat.
Finishing practice circuit
Straight release: shoot from one location ten times, changing only aim. Learn the current baseline.
Pressure release: add a passive defender, then alternate immediate shot, one-touch movement, and short pass. Record blocked attempts.
Curve: test A and D combinations from the same angle. Confirm direction and target consistency.
Airborne ball: use one passer to provide repeatable header and volley arrivals. Name the ball height before choosing contact.
Goalkeeper read: let the keeper choose hold, forward dive, or side commit. Select the finish after the movement begins.
Style layer: add one named finish and compare its possession cost with the normal options.
